Mentally unstable would just about cover the nuances of AJ Lee's character during the Summer of 2012 - really coming into her own as a performer, AJ was a vital piece of the puzzle in the feud between her on-screen boyfriend Daniel Bryan and CM Punk. Involved in the criminally-short match between Sheamus and Bryan at WrestleMania XXVIII, a bout which only lasted 18 seconds, the Diva was unceremoniously dumped by her love interest after her kiss was blamed as the reason for Bryan's defeat. Following her split from Bryan, AJ was named as the Special Guest Referee for the collision between her kayfabe lover and (now real-life husband) CM Punk at Money In The Bank in July, 2012. Without doubt, the match would have been excellent even without AJ's involvement, but her conflicted appearance and concern for both men really helped sell the story. It's easy for a special referee to spoil a potentially great bout, but there was enough of a tale being spun here that AJ Lee was crucial to proceedings. Only adding to the chaos, AJ counted the fall which declared Punk the winner, before oddly agreeing to marry Daniel Bryan the next night on Raw!
