10 Most Creative Match Finishes In WWE History
Tape, masks, handcuffs, and those other creative ways WWE wrestlers have come away with a vital win!
If you've watched even just one episode of Monday Night Raw, you've depressingly already seen the vast majority of go-to WWE match finishes.
The minute the bell rings on the red show, or any other WWE offering for that matter, there's a strong chance a distraction, frustrating DQ, or quick squash finish is heading your way.
Every now and again, though, something magical happens.
Those in charge of booking the action actually opt for something a little more creative than a done to death sneak attack or "shocking" roll-up win on the sports entertainment stage!
Admittedly for every genuinely compelling and refreshingly unexpected closing stretch, the average WWE lover will have to sit through about 30 dull and often soul-crushing conclusions.
But when the good stuff does pop up on your screens in the form of absolutely sensational ladder shenanigans or gloriously unanticipated last-minute swerves, those many uninteresting memories of largely bland WWE finishes are briefly forgotten.
Taping their way to glory, blinding the competition with an unforeseen weapon, and even eating a match-winning finisher are just a few of the clever, imaginative, and innovative ways various WWE superstars have walked out of an arena with the all-important 'W'.
10. Rey Mysterio Brought A Back-Up Mask (The Bash 2009)
Heading into their battle at 2009's The Bash, Rey Mysterio and Chris Jericho had already clashed on a few occasions.
Their last PLE showdown before the aforementioned Bash match actually saw 'Rey-Rey' being shockingly unmasked by the despicable 'Y2J', with the eventual AEW star rolling up an incensed Mysterio to win the Intercontinental Championship shortly after.
That alone sits as a rather creative heelish way to come out on top, you'll no doubt agree.
But Mysterio only went and topped that stellar conclusion one PLE later.
With that despicable tactic fresh in his mind, Mysterio ingeniously opted to sport not one, but two masks on the night of The Bash. And sure enough, as the rival's Title vs. Mask epic reached its closing stages, that slimy Jericho once again tried to catch Mysterio off-guard with a heinous mask pull mid-roll-up.
Rather than leave the ultimate underdog clutching his mug, though, Mysterio had the last laugh as Jericho's heel antics revealed a second mask on Rey's clever head.
One sweet 619 later, the legendary hero had reclaimed his belt in a genuinely surprising finish, and made Jericho look like a right t*t in the process.
You love to see it.
