It was an incident which shocked the wrestling world, and added a hard edge to Tough Enough which had previously been missing. During the third season of the show, Bob 'Hardcore' Holly got pretty damn physical with one of the contestants, a young man known as Matt Cappotelli, apparently on a mission to show that a life in the ring isn't a walk in the park. That's been another theme throughout Tough Enough, veteran stars letting these fledgling young hopefuls know that they have a golden ticket to a career they've worked hard to build, and they're not entirely happy about it. Often, it comes across as bitter, and it's fair to say that Holly took liberties with his lesser-experienced trainee.Entering the ring with Cappotelli, Holly beat him up pretty badly, something which had the young man in tears when talking to Bill DeMott afterwards. Likely shocked by what had happened, it's admirable that the incident didn't deter Matt, who went on to win the third season (along with John 'Morrison' Hennigan). Nonetheless, Bob Holly didn't exactly cover himself in glory during the segment.
