10 Most Damaging WWE Defeats
2. Team WWE Over The Nexus
Now that all of them except Heath Slater - a man whose main claim to fame is being tossed around the ring by Brock Lesnar - have been shown the WWE exit door, it's kind of difficult to mourn the defeat The Nexus suffered at SummerSlam 2010.
At the time, however, this was a hugely controversial result in the eyes of the internet wrestling community - one made even worse when it emerged that John Cena, said community's favourite boogeyman, had orchestrated the finish of the match himself, in an apparent attempt to confirm all of its worst fears.
The problem here wasn't so much that Wade Barrett's men didn't topple their more established adversaries; that would have been more or less permissible, given that the WWE side boasted a stellar line-up headed by multi-time World Champions Cena, Edge and Chris Jericho.
Rather, it was the manner in which the rookies were made to lay down that got everyone in a huff. Despite their inexperience, The Nexus managed to put themselves in the driving seat by opening up a numerical advantage over the opposing side - only for Superman Cena to pin both of their remaining members in less than 30 seconds.
