Used by: Jun Akiyama, Daniel Bryan, many MMA practitioners This is one of the simple, yet most effective submission holds in wrestling. Basically, the user tucks their victims head underneath their armpit, wrapping the arm around the throat in the process, while applying a body scissors on the recipients torso, allegedly to constrict the expansion of the ribcage, lungs and diaphragm. Given its name as a choke hold, this isnt a move likely to be seen in WWE, with the rare exception of being used by submission expert Daniel Bryan. Its more commonly seen in MMA and in other wrestling promotions, as well as in Jiu-jitsu and as part of Close Quarters Combat training for several military forces around the world. As a result, whenever its brought out, it gives the user an air of danger and legitimacy, as it has been deemed an excellent way of rendering an opponent unconscious or even causing death.
