10 Most Disappointing Wrestlers Of 2016
2. Brock Lesnar
Rating Brock Lesnar’s year is tough. The Beast Incarnate has, as always, been at the heart of some of WWE’s biggest angles, and enters 2017 as the antagonist in the company’s hottest feud. His rivalry with Goldberg has been note perfect since the moment the former WCW Champion returned from his 12 year absence, and their Survivor Series squash match gave the company some strong end of year buzz.
Almost everything else that Brock has been involved with has been a rank disappointment, however. His feud with Dean Ambrose was well-built, but it amounted to nothing more than a lazy WrestleMania street fight centered around a pointless chainsaw spot. Months later, Lesnar re-emerged to feud with the returning Randy Orton, and as violent as their SummerSlam match was, it closed the PPV on a sour note.
Lesnar started 2016 with a great Triple Threat with Roman Reigns and Ambrose at Fastlane, and he finished the year at the heart of wrestling’s biggest feud. Nothing that took place between these two bookends worked, and while Brock remains WWE’s biggest “special attraction,” it’s hard to argue against 2016 being his most disappointing year since returning. Here’s hoping he can turn things up a notch in 2017, starting with a big WrestleMania win over Goldberg.
