10. Christian (WWE Extreme Rules 2011)

In 2011, the unfortunate retirement of the Edge helped grant an overdue world title reign in WWE for his best friend Christian. Shortly after retaining his World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 27, the 'Rated-R Superstar' had to vacate the title due to his career-ending injury. To crown a new champion a ladder match between Christian and Alberto Del Rio was set for the Extreme Rules pay-per-view.

It was difficult to tell which competitor would come out on top, as both had good enough reasons to be the next champion. Del Rio was one of the company's fastest-rising young stars whilst Christian had predominantly been performing in WWE's reincarnation of ECW since returning to the company in 2009.

In the end, the sentimental support for 'Captain Charisma' prevailed as the tag-team specialist claimed his first world title in the company. The win felt right for two reasons, it was nice seeing Edge's legacy live on through his best friend, whilst Christian rightfully earned the accolade for his years of hard work inside and outside of WWE.
