10. Steve Austin Overcomes All The Odds At Over The Edge 1998

'Stone Cold' Steve Austin helped redefine what being a heel means in the wrestling business. A classic villain, fans nonetheless went bananas for the man, making him a truly unique case and one of the biggest stars in the history of the industry - even though his actions were those of a traditional bad guy, people loved Steve Austin, and would have followed him to the ends of the earth in the late-90's. At the Over The Edge Pay-Per-View in May, 1998, Austin was up against it, in storyline at least. The tyrannical Mr. McMahon stacked the odds against the WWF Heavyweight Champion, seemingly making it impossible for him to escape still with the belt around his waist. Not only was McMahon himself Special Guest Referee for Austin's match against Dude Love, but both Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco had roles too, essentially ensuring that Dude Love would wrestle the title away from 'The Rattlesnake'. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xkr03d_wwf-over-the-edge-1998-wwf-title-stone-cold-vs-dude-love_sport Austin's only 'backup' came in the form of The Undertaker, who played a pivotal role in the outcome. Watching the final few minutes of this bout, and the subsequent celebration from 'Stone Cold' and his supporters, sends shivers up the spine. Announcer Jim Ross says it best when he proclaims Austin the "toughest son of a bitch that you ever saw". The atmosphere is palpable.
