2. The Revival

Scott Dawson was always a solid hand down in NXT, and Dash Wilder was never far behind him. The duo started teaming as The Mechanics in 2014, but it wasn’t until the following year that they were able to escape enhancement status at Full Sail. Slowly but surely, Dash & Dawson started putting the pieces together, and late 2015 saw them partake in a set of great tag team matches with Enzo Amore & Big Cass, and Samoa Joe & Finn Balor.

Then 2016 happened, and The Revival exploded. They set TakeOver: Dallas off to a blistering start in their NXT Tag Team Championship match with American Alpha back in April, then followed-up with a set of excellent rematches. By June, The Revival had put themselves on the map as one of WWE’s premier tag teams, and they soon met their perfect rivals in Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa.

Their first match in Booklyn scraped five-star territory, and the Toronto rematch might just be WWE’s match of the year. It was a relentless instant classic between two expert tag teams, and while The Revival took the loss, they left with their heads held high.

Dash & Dawson became a perfect tag team in 2016. They’re both solid technicians and brawlers on their own, but together, they’re dynamite. No other WWE tag team works so well at isolating opponents, cutting-off the ring, and working classic tag team psychology as The Revival. Those Arn Anderson/Tully Blanchard comparisons aren’t without merit, and if there’s any justice in the world, The Revival will become an immediate centerpiece on Raw or SmackDown.
