10 Most Notorious Big Show Urban Legends

1. Was Originally Supposed To Be In The Shield

Story: CM Punk caused a lot of eyebrows to raise during his appearances on Colt Cabana's podcast in late-2014. Opening up on why he decided to walk away from WWE, Punk spoke candidly about several subject that apparently didn't too well with those still with the company, namely Vince and Stephanie McMahon, along with Triple H. One of the stories told by Punk suggested that he was the man who came up with the idea of The Shield, a stable which would eventually involve nobody but Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. Revealing that he pitched the faction to management, Punk wanted to be the leader, and was offered Big Show as a 'heater' for the group, something he turned down. Why People Believe It: In fairness to the man, why would CM Punk have any reason to lie? It's unlikely that there's any beef between him and any of the men who would eventually form The Shield, so he'd have no cause to try and undermine their achievements. On the subject of Show, Punk remarked that he likes the big guy, but didn't think he'd do well in the bodyguard role. Should We Believe It: This one is a tough one to call, but again, there's little reason for Punk to embellish anything. It makes perfect sense that WWE would envision Big Show in a bodyguard role, due to his size, and comments made by Rollins seem to suggest that The Shield was something pitched to Ambrose, Reigns and himself relatively quickly.
