1. Knew For A Long Time About Impending Retirement
Story: Various neck injuries had plagued Edge throughout his career, something the man attributes to the reckless, dangerous bumps he took during matches such as the infamous 'TLC' wars against The Hardy Boys and The Dudley Boys. Eventually, such abuse on his body would cost him his career, forced to retire before the age of 40 in 2011. It was clearly a sad moment for Copeland when he appeared before the WWE crowd on an episode of Smackdown shortly after WrestleMania XXVII, informing his fans that doctors had forbid him from wrestling again, forcing him to vacate the World Heavyweight Championship. It all seemed to come out of the blue, and people theorised whether or not Copeland had been aware of his retirement for months. Why People Believe It: Neck problems weren't exactly a new thing for Copeland, that much is for certain. Suffering a major neck injury in 2003, one which would keep him out for a year or so, the wrestler has talked since about how his neck was weak afterwards. Should We Believe It: It's entirely possible that Edge knew his career was coming to an end, he has spoken about not being able to sleep due to the pain for years, which obviously isn't a good sign. As upsetting as it was for the man, it was also sad for wrestling to lose a fantastic talent, but his health was paramount. It's clear that not wrestling has been good for Copeland, as he looks healthier now than he had for years. What other famous notorious urban legends do you know about Adam 'Edge' Copeland?
