2. Had A Backstage Altercation With Triple H In 1996
Story: Returning to the World Wrestling Federation in 1996, Jake 'The Snake' Roberts was a born again Christian. Now, instead of women, drugs and alcohol, Roberts extolled the virtues of religion. That fact didn't sit well with a lot of his peers, leading to several snide comments. Backstage, Triple H remarked that Jake was surely "too old" to be a wrestler in the New WWF Generation. The jibe was supposed to impress Shawn Michaels, but HBK instead walked away, lecturing his friend that he was on his own after that one. Roberts obviously didn't take too kindly to the statement, and said he'd stiff Hunter if they ever worked together. Why People Believe It: It's highly likely that Jake received some negativity and banter from his colleagues when he returned. After years of living life hard, he must have known it'd be hard for people to accept the changes he was trying to make. Triple H was part of 'The Kliq', so he likely felt untouchable. Should We Believe it: There's no hard evidence to support this story. It's possible, of course, but it could also simply be complete fabrication. There's talk online about the confrontation, but neither man has fully discussed it.
