1. Triple H Isn't A Foley Fan Because Of Fan Consensus
Story: The general consensus amongst wrestling fans is that a series of matches opposite Mick Foley directly helped 'make' Triple H into a genuine main event star. Sure, the man had been a featured part of programming pretty much since his debut in 1995, but it was rivalries against Mankind in 1997 and Cactus Jack in 2000 that really cemented 'The Game' as being the top heel in the company. Apparently, this is something which sticks in the craw of Triple H, this idea that Mick Foley 'made' him by association during their various feuds. Whilst Triple H doesn't directly dislike Foley, he isn't a major fan of him simply because many wrestling enthusiasts have claimed that Mick carried Hunter during their most famous bouts. Why People Believe It: Immediately after their infamous Hell In A Cell match at No Way Out 2000, there were fans claiming that Foley had 'made' Triple H, that much is true. On top of that, there were insinuations that HHH wouldn't have made it past the upper mid-card had he not been programmed opposite Mick Foley's various guises. Should We Believe It: No, it seems unlikely that Triple H would see things that way. Of course, nobody really knows but the man himself, but this one doesn't seem to have much truth behind it. If anything, Triple H probably realised that Foley was the ideal opponent for him in 2000, because they'd worked so well together in the past. Besides, the likes of The Undertaker and Steve Austin were sitting on the shelf injured at the turn of the millennium, so Foley was called upon to be a top babyface, along with The Rock.
