From the good ridiculous to the bad ridiculous, this Signature Series Dean Ambrose figure looks absolutely nothing like the Lunatic Fringe. This was likely in part because of a rush to market that the Mattel design team faced when the Shield broke up and Ambrose radically changed his look following the split. Previously having slicked-back hair and an all-black, pseudo military style attire worn by The Shield, Dean changed his wrestling attire to jeans and a wife-beater undershirt. With the release schedule of Mattel's figures being 6-9 months away from when an action figure is initially designed, it was impressive that Mattel was able to get a non-Shield attire Dean Ambrose to market as quickly as they did. Unfortunately, the rushed product reflects the lack of time that was likely spent on the figure as it does not resemble any version of Dean Ambrose in any way. The scaling is off, the parts that were re-used don't accurately represent Dean, and the atrocious face scan all combined to make this one of the least realistic WWE action figures produced by Mattel. Luckily, collectors received a better effort before the year was up in the form of the Elite 36 Dean Ambrose, but that didn't do anything to help correct this poorly-produced figure.
