10 Most Underrated Wrestlers In WWE Today

Recognising WWE's unsung heroes.

Which names come to mind when thinking about modern day WWE? Probably a combination of the following: John Cena, Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns, Randy Orton, Seth Rollins, and Dean Ambrose. Think a little deeper and you might throw guys like AJ Styles, Sami Zayn, and Kevin Owens into the equation.

For better or worse, these are the names that make WWE what it is today. We can talk about Reigns and Cena’s over-saturation until the cows come home, but fan opinion can’t change the fact that they’re two of WWE’s cornerstone superstars, and that’s not changing any time soon.

Whether good or bad, the above wrestlers have all made a mark on the audience. This is partly down to their individual talent, dedication, and work ethic, but also the WWE promotional machine. If Vince McMahon’s company hadn’t provided the stage, these athletes wouldn’t be at the sport’s forefront today, regardless of their attributes.

There’s often a clamour among WWE fans for the company to create new stars, and for a promotion with eight hours of original in-ring programming to fill every single week, WWE doesn’t do the best job in that department. Their roster is full of skilled wrestlers who, for a myriad of reasons, will never reach the heights of an Orton or Lesnar.

Here are the ten most underrated wrestlers in WWE today.

10. Naomi

Naomi's post-Funkadactyls career looked set to take-off with the “Diva’s Revolution” and Team B.A.D.’s formation, but she's faded into obscurity since the group’s split this February.

She doesn’t have Sasha Banks’ star power or Becky Lynch’s supreme technical ability, but Naomi is one of the most athletic women on the roster. Starting as Brodus Clay’s dancing sidekick, she clearly outclassed her partner Cameron when the Funkadactyls started wrestling on a regular basis, and her more recent work as a bratty, entitled heel shows her charisma and ability to connect with an audience.

Naomi hasn’t been seen on Raw or SmackDown in months. If Natalya and Paige are being misused, Naomi isn’t being used at all. A good talker and solid in-ring worker, an ideal world would see Naomi mixing it up with the best of WWE’s Women’s Division on a nightly basis.
