SummerSlam is one of WWE's biggest events every year. As we look back over the last 26 editions of the event going all the way back to the first one in 1988, we often think of the best matches in SummerSlam history. They're the ones that helped establish this show as one of the most important of the year. A lot of times, though, we overlook some of more underrated matches in SummerSlam history too. An underrated match is not thought of as a classic that people watch dozens of times in their lives. It's a match that you may have seen live years ago and totally forgotten about it. Don't worry. It happens to all of us. When you consume as much wrestling as some of us do you're going to skip over some memories. When that happens we lose track of the forgotten classics or as some people like to them, the underrated matches. It's hard to determine what an underrated match is because it's difficult to agree with people on what is or isn't underrated. The rules I've come up with for it is that they can't be matches that were main eventing SummerSlam or for the WWE or World Title. They also can't be the most popular matches ever like Bulldog/Hart, HHH/Rock, Michaels/Ramon, Hart/Perfect, Michaels/HHH and so many others that we know are the best SummerSlam matches. That's a whole other topic. These are the matches that were really solid midcard battles that entertained us either because of the story going into it or simply because the guys in the match were able to put on a show. Here's a look at ten of the most underrated matches in WWE SummerSlam history.
