8. Big Show vs. Cody Rhodes (Intercontinental Title - WrestleMania XXVIII)
Cody Rhodes has put his all into the 'Stardust' character, one designed to be almost Goldust for a new generation. Similarly, Rhodes paid a lot of attention to small details during a previous push as Intercontinental Champion - the idea was that the second generation star was intent on bringing back the prestige to the belt that had been lost through years of 'paper' champions. At WrestleMania XXVIII in 2012, Rhodes would lose the title to The Big Show in a short, fairly lifeless mid-card battle. It wasn't exactly the kind of crowning that fans looked forward to, Cody had held the belt since August, 2011, and would beat Show less than a month later at the Extreme Rules Pay-Per-View anyway. It seemed for all the world like this Intercontinental Title switch existed solely to have one on the show, but along with the World Heavyweight Championship bout (stay tuned), it all felt a little unnecessary and forced. This was one of those scenarios where WWE announcers were instructed to paint Big Show as an unstoppable monster again, wondering who could beat him for the title. It'd be Cody Rhodes, less than 30 days later, rendering this change ultimately pointless.
