10 Most Unwanted WrestleMania Title Changes

3. Rey Mysterio vs. JBL (Intercontinental Title - WrestleMania XXV)

Again, squash matches shouldn't really have a place on the card at WrestleMania, it doesn't really do anyone any favours. Despite the obvious shock value, fans are left feeling pretty ripped off by criminally short bouts, and that was a feeling which swept through the Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas in 2009 at 'Mania XXV. JBL's Intercontinental Title showdown with Rey Mysterio had all the potential to be a decent mid-card addition, but it'd last a little over 20 seconds, ending with the masked-man leaving with the belt. To put things into perspective, an earlier bout on the card featuring aging stars such as Roddy Piper, Jimmy Snuka and Ricky Steamboat lasted 8 minutes, whereas Layfield and the high-flying Mysterio were only given 20 seconds to work with. There were people in attendance delighted that Rey had won the Intercontinental Title, but surely they'd have rather witnessed a proper match, instead of a pointless squash. It's likely even Rey Mysterio fans would have taken a JBL win if the tandem were given some time to piece together something resembling a wrestling match.
