During WWE NXT ESPN E:60: Behind the Curtain, we learned that before creating the character of Tyler Breeze, the wrestler known as Mattias Clement was floundering on the NXT roster as Mike Dalton, a performer with no personality. With threats of being cut from the developmental territory, the Breeze character was born: a male model who's obsessed with his smartphone and thinks of himself as better than his opponents because he's more attractive. At the beginning, Breeze's character was almost a crutch. He was very specific about not having his face touched, let alone injured. Half the time, he seemed more interested in taking selfies than competing. Over time, with his bouts for the NXT Championship or number one contender slots, he learned to let go of such petty matters and wrestled some very entertaining matches. Breeze keeps falling short of NXT gold though, and it's frustrating to watch. A spot in the WWE Money in the Bank event could finally solidify him as a threat to the NXT roster and a wrestler to look out for. It'd be tough for Breeze to carry the briefcase and his selfie stick, but he'd surely manage somehow.
