As WWF Champion, the elder Hart sibling favoured working against wrestlers who could help him produce lengthy, dramatic matches focused on in-ring action, and that's where his flesh and blood came in. By winning the King Of The Ring in 1994, Owen was immediately thrust into the position of being Bret's main challenger for Summerslam, where the pair would construct one of the greatest Steel Cage bouts in WWF/WWE history. It was clear the guidelines for what constituted a WWF main event star were changing, but Vince McMahon never did see Owen as Bret's equal, despite his in-ring abilities.
