3. Wrestlemania 3's Record-Breaking Attendance

Wrestlemania 3 is still remembered to this very day for the humongous crowd that gathered in the Pontiac Silverdome. The official attendance figure for the event stands at 93,173, which was the largest recorded attendance for a live indoor sporting even in the whole of North America up until that point. In fact, that record still stood up until a 2010 NBA All-Star Game topped it. If anybody was in any doubt as to whether the Wrestlemania concept maybe didn't have legs, this PPV removed any doubt. With the huge attendance figure and the $1.6 million made in ticket sales, not to mention several million watching via closed circuit and PPV, Wrestlemania 3 made huge waves into mainstream media. The event itself was headlined by Hulk Hogan defending his WWF Championship against Andre the Giant, resulting in the 'slam heard around the world', and then there was also the match deemed by many wrestling purists as the greatest match of all time, Randy Savage defending the Intercontinental Title against Ricky Steamboat. Wrestlemania 3's impact is still felt huge in the mainstream press to this very day, mainly down to the sheer numbers that it took.
