When she won the 2006 Divas Search, few expected Layla to have the longevity that she has over the last decade. While her career has been full of ups and downs, injuries and triumphs, she has been the one few consistencies in the Divas division. Whether teaming with Michelle McCool or capturing championship gold on her own, Layla exceeded expectations and became one of the most respected female performers on the roster. Unfortunately, personal issues took her off of television in 2013. She returned in 2014 and it was clear that the woman who had earned rave reviews for continuously improving her ring game was no longer there. Her feud with Summer Rae over Fandango's affections suggested that she had regressed as a performer. Following the wrap-up of that story, she again disappeared from television, appearing infrequently at live events but rarely on television. It remains to be seen what the future holds for Layla. At 37 years old, she is still incredibly beautiful and in outstanding shape. Perhaps a stint in NXT, working with the younger women on the roster and rediscovering her passion for in-ring performance would suit her well. Otherwise, it is difficult to imagine a scenario where she still fits in what WWE is trying to do with their current product.
