10 Positives Heading Into WWE Backlash 2016
2. Renee Young
In light of the Brand Split, the introduction of the Talking
Smack post-show has been an awesome addition to WWE programming. I’ve
also already drawn attention to some of the great character development that we’ve
been seeing on SmackDown in the past few weeks, such as that interview segment
from Heath Slater’s trailer.
Now, I’m no detective, but I do see a common denominator between those two things and that is the excellent Renee Young.
Sure, she doesn’t have an advertised spot on the Backlash card, but I think that in recent weeks she’s done just as good a job as anyone of helping to promote the PPV. Whether as a backstage interviewer, an in-the-field reporter, or presenting the Talking Smack post-show, she’s been absolutely brilliant in every role she’s portrayed, and for me that's been a huge positive in hyping up this Sunday’s show.
Some highlights in particular include her condemning of The Miz’s tirade on Daniel Bryan, as well as her concern for Nikki Bella after another ambush from Carmella. The kayfabe is strong with this one.
