10 Possible Winners Of WWE's Cruiserweight Classic
If it isn't going to be Andrade Almos, who will it be?
Ever since it was announced, the WWE Cruiserweight Classic has had wrestling fans everywhere dribbling spittle in anticipation.
The competitors for the tournament initially came out in drips, with some gaining straight entry and others having to win qualifiers, and up until the weekend a whole host of spots were still open in the tournament.
Instead of continuing in that vein, World Wrestling Entertainment has simply come out and named the entire field. We now know the identities of all 32 men entered into the tournament, and the variety among the field is impressive to say the least. Triple H said it was going to be a global tournament and he wasn't kidding, with wrestlers coming from all over the world to compete.
As with any 32-man field, however, a certain number are there to impress but ultimately lose in the first round. Of those 32, how many can be considered actual threats to win the whole thing? It'll be great to see Tajiri and Brian Kendrick performing in WWE rings once again, but surely they are there to give a rub to whomever defeats them?
For me, 10 names stick out like sore thumbs from those announced. All are possible winners, with some more likely than others. An argument could be made for each.
So coming at us from the UK, Japan, the States, Mexico and elsewhere, here are 10 possible winners of the WWE Cruiserweight Classic.
10. Ariya Daivari
When the list of competitors in the WWE Cruiserweight Classic was officially announced, three names that caught the eye were Tajiri, Brian Kendrick and Ariya Daivari.
'Hooray!' many proclaimed, it is good to see WWE bringing in former talent for the tournament. Tajiri is much loved, The Brian Kendrick is a former WWE Champion (technically) and Daivari never really got a good shot as a wrestler. Good on them!
Well, whilst these commentators may have been correct on Tajiri and Kendrick, it turns out this isn't the Daivari we all know and love (?). No, Ariya Daivari is actually the younger brother of the former manager of Muhammad Hassan, Kurt Angle and The Great Khali.
By all accounts he is a heck of a talent too, and has been on WWE's radar for quite a while. His finishing move is called the Magic Carpet Ride, and I'm not sure whether that gains him points or sees them deducted.
Either way, he could go on to win the whole thing.
