10 Potential Superstars That Could Succeed Roman Reigns As WWE Champion

By Matt Davis /

1. Triple H

Conventional thinking would say this is a ridiculous notion. There's no way that Triple H, the real-life Executive Vice President of Talent, Live Events and Creative of WWE, and a part-time, 46 year-old wrestler would book himself to win the WWE Championship. It especially wouldn't be done at the expense of the up-and-coming future face of the company, Roman Reigns, or 29 other WWE superstars, but that's just it. No one thinks this would happen which gives it a strong enough reason for why it could; WWE love it when they can "swerve" the fans. Whether it takes place at the Royal Rumble, Fastlane, or WrestleMania, there is a good chance that Triple H becomes the man to dethrone Roman Reigns for the title, only for Roman to exact his revenge and regain the title afterwards. The company is determined to get Reigns over as a babyface hero, and their thinking could be that no one would cheer for the power-hungry, corporate executive that places himself in the championship match without actually "earning" it. Reigns vs. Trips would surely garner Roman some fan support in the minds of WWE creative, but the heat that could be generated from a Triple H championship reign, regardless of how short it lasts, could be even better.
