Part of the problem with Sheamus as the WWE Champion is that most WWE fans dont buy him as the top heel in the promotion and they know that in the next month or two he will be dropping the championship to another WWE star, and he only won the belt in the first place to be the interim WWE Champion.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, WWE decided instead of giving Roman Reigns the WWE Championship and letting him run with the belt, to have his moment taken from him and put the belt on Sheamus to give Roman another mountain to climb.
