One of the biggest factors in a wrestling programs success is how much or how well the viewing audience can suspend their disbelief. Its one of the most significant reasons why pro wrestling was so popular in decades past: fans believed in what they were watching, and were willing to invest in a storyline because it has a least a kernel of truth to it. Fast forward to 2015, and a lot has changed. The advent of the internet, the surge in insider information, and Vince McMahons revelations, have all created a different WWE Universe. This new fanbase is more critical, jaded and skeptical about what they see from WWE; so much so, that its incredibly hard for the company to create storylines that the WWE Universe can really believe. With WWEs creative direction in dire need of something fresh and innovative in order to garner increased fan interest, its time for them to come up with something more in tune with todays zeitgeist. Its time for WWE to begin implementing creative storylines that skew perceptions of reality more than the current ones, as well as tell far simpler stories based on real-life events and relationships.
