Despite weekly rumoirs of a return, with the internet wrestling community begging and begging for him to come back, WrestleMania time came and went without an appearance from CM Punk. There is no doubt that his absence has been felt in a negative way for the past several months. In a company that so sorely lacks main event level talent, losing a guy like CM Punk can not be ignored. Many point to CM Punk's famous promo in the summer of 2011 as the moment the reality era began. With reality being the theme for the company going forward, they are lacking the guy who in many ways pioneered that change within the company. Like him or dislike him for the route he took in leaving the company this year, one thing is for certain: the product would improve drastically just by having this man back on the roster. The only men on the roster of main event caliber right now are: Bryan, Triple H, Cena, Orton and Batista. The company's failure to create main events over the past several years has caught up to them, and I believe that Vince will be doing everything he can to get Punk back into the fold before too long. After such a long absence, a heel turn for Punk might actually work out well. Punk could blame the fans as the reason for his departure, and that could be parlayed into a heel/face program against Daniel Bryan for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship that could main event SummerSlam. One can dream, can't they?
