Granted, this can only really happen if the bookers choose to make Wade Barrett a fighting champion. For too long weve seen the IC and US titles get passed by as belt accessories that rarely ever get defended. These secondary titles are meant to take a middle card athlete and push him up towards future main event stature. It helped make guys like Steve Austin, Triple H, and The Rock some of the biggest names in professional wrestling. Now that Barrett is in his fourth reign as Intercontinental Champion, maybe he can make this a reign worthy of his predecessors. By booking Wade to defend and retain his title against top contenders, hell make the IC title look like a title thats worth earning. Meanwhile, Sheamus just recently won the US title from Dean Ambrose, one of the longest reigning and least defending, US Champions of all time. Some speculate that Barrett and Sheamus will face each other in a title unification match. If this happens, Barrett beating Sheamus and keeping the IC Championship as the true secondary title in WWE will make his stock rise up higher than its ever been before. Thats how memorable characters, and equally memorable moments in WWE history, are made.
