Sheamus is the new WWE Champion, following a Money In The Bank cash-in on Roman Reigns at Survivor Series. It was a major booking move from Vince McMahon, especially as Reigns had himself only just won the vacant title over Dean Ambrose. The dramatic ending moves the company forward, with the set-up now being babyface Roman Reigns chasing the heel Champion. It is a classic piece of booking, creating sympathy for Reigns and making people want to see Sheamus knocked out of the top spot. It was also an inevitable piece of booking, as Mr Money In The Bank, it was only ever a matter of time until Sheamus took the title spot. He's now a four time World Champion and looks set for a major 2016 as the top company heel. Yet some fans were surprised and disappointed with WWE's decision making. There's a feeling that the Irishman is boring and years past his relevance. Fans are also making the point that Sheamus was booked so poorly going into Survivor Series, that the decision to make him Champion is damaging to the belt. But with the options that WWE had available, and with future events in mind, the fact is Vince McMahon made the best decision he could.
