10 Reasons Why WWE Peaked In The Year 2000

By John Canton /

World Wrestling Entertainment has been the greatest professional wrestling organization in the world for the majority of their 50 year run. They started out small, but soon they were able to grow by taking over the competition, signing top talent from anywhere in the world and then becoming a global empire in the last 30 years thanks to the success of WrestleMania as well as other ventures. When looking back at their history, there are plenty of questions about the best moments in their past. We think about the best WrestleMania events, the best PPVs, the best match, the best wrestlers and various other best categories that we can argue about for hours. What about the best year? It's not that difficult of a question because there's one year that really stands out: the year 2000. There was a famous bit on the Conan O'Brien show in the late 1990s and even in the early 2000s where they would have a celebrity join Conan in stating some unique facts. What was memorable about it was the way they would always say "in the year 2000" and they would repeat. For WWE (still known as the World Wrestling Federation at that point), in the year 2000 they had their best year ever. Not only did they destroy WCW early into 2001, but they were able to put on some of the best shows in the history of the company too. There were plenty of reasons why it happened, so here's a look back to the year 2000 when WWE was at their peak.
