10 Reasons Why The WWE Brand Extension Was Great

9. ECW One Night Stand 2005 Was Helped By Brand Power

It's one of my favorite WWE PPVs ever: ECW One Night Stand 2005. The Raw roster was there, the Smackdown roster was there and the ECW roster was set to launch on the heels of that show. Paul Heyman's speech that night was absolutely legendary. He ripped into the heels from Raw (like Edge for what happened with Lita) and from Smackdown (like JBL for only becoming WWE Champ because HHH didn't want to work Tuesdays) while saying that the ECW brand actually stood for something.Let's not pretend like the ECW brand was a success for WWE when it launched in 2006 after another great One Night Stand show that year. There were many reasons why it failed and it's something that WWE loves to completely ignore. However, they had one of their best PPVs ever because of the rivalries they were able to build up thanks to the appearances by the heels from Raw and Smackdown that made this show seem more "real" than most WWE shows. It's something that will never be duplicated because the stories going in will never be on the same level as what we saw at ECW One Night Stand 2005.
