10 Reasons WWE Fans Are Still Chanting CM Punk’s Name

4. WWE€™s Mid-Card Is Beyond Stale

Listen to the crowd when you watch the tag team combination of Rybaxel putting the heat on their opponents. Of course, given that very few in the crowd care about the third-generation superstar, his partner "Da Big Guy" and "ex-Paul Heyman guys" Ryback and Curtis Axel, the bored crowd turns their chants to that of another (more successful) "Paul Heyman Guy," CM Punk. WWE's mid-card is more stale than a meal of flat ginger ale, day-old bread and month-old cheese. With talents like Kofi Kingston, Bad News Barrett, Sheamus, and the aforementioned Axel and Sheamus occupying the same slots on the roster for the past three-to-five years, fans are understandably bored and unquestionably agitated. Agitated enough to start chanting someone's name that has absolutely nothing to do with anything? Just like being at a rock and roll show and shouting for any band reaching a lull in their set to play Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Freebird" because it's iconically associated with rock and roll, the name CM Punk may become similarly associated with good-time vibes overcoming boredom in pro wrestling.
