10 Reasons WWE WrestleMania 39 Weekend Absolutely SUCKED
10. The Wrong Woman Goes Over
Bianca Belair should not have won at WrestleMania.
To be clear, this is not a knock on Bianca herself: this author is a big fan of the EST, and she deserves her position as the figurehead of the women's division. But by God, it is getting extremely boring typing "Bianca won" over and over again.
Bianca's reign has suffered hugely from the sort of Cena-esque booking that turned the audience against the former WWE golden boy. Watching Bianca effortlessly swat away challengers with a ponytail flick has become stale, and fans are starting to turn on her. Not only did some segments of the crowd boo Bianca during her match against Asuka, but that same match's highlight video also has over twice as many dislikes as likes on Youtube (9.2K to 4.5K at time of writing), and Asuka got a noticeably louder pop at the Hall of Fame than Belair did.
Heroes need to face adversity to be relatable, and Bianca hasn't really been in peril since her ascent to the mountaintop at WrestleMania 38. She's been the overwhelming favourite in every match since then - even her SummerSlam match against Becky Lynch felt like a formality - and her match against Asuka was the chance to create a genuine threat for the EST by having Asuka pull out the surprise win.
A months-long feud in which Bianca strived to get her belt back from a demented, dangerous Empress of Tomorrow would have been the perfect way to build up sympathy for Belair, and been a great way to fill up time until the EST's inevitable clash with Rhea Ripley.
Speaking of which...
