5. The British Bulldog (1999)

It felt just a bit icky when WWE proudly heralded the return of Davey Boy Smith less than three months after Owen Hart's death. While Smith was certainly free to work wherever he chose, he was only months removed from being laid up with a life-threatening spinal infection. His 1998 run in WCW was a far cry from his 1997 level of quality, and it was about to get much worse. Once an emboldened strongman with a million dollar smile, Smith looked incredibly rough as he stumbled his way through one-note brawls while wearing non-descript blue jeans. Before long, he was stuck with The Mean Street Posse for unclear reasons, and pretty much faded from television before his quiet exit in the spring of 2000.
