As we all know there are two midcard championships in WWE, which have great histories. The history attached to both of those championships is exactly that€History. Ancient history that is. The US Championship and Intercontinental Championship are old and decrepit belts that act more as anchors to the midcard, rather than elevators. To create a stronger championship, these belts must be merged. Sheamus and Wade Barrett would be perfect to merge them. They are both accomplished stars, have great chemistry, and the crowd in Chicago (who ultimately decide how the event will be viewed) would feast over a championship unification match. Unfortunately, Sheamus and Barrett both have opponents in Rob Van Dam, and Cesaro respectively. The easy fix is to put both titles on the line in an elimination bout to crown a new unified undercard champion. WWE may be too invested in each of these matches to change anything, but giving the fans this type of excitement would go a long way in putting a solid card together in the absence of the World Champion.
