It's difficult to explain to younger fans just how over Hulk Hogan was as a babyface in the 1980s.

Imagine John Cena being greeted like God every single time he entered arenas and you'd be getting close. As popular as Hogan was, there was another top face on the roster, and that man was Andre The Giant.

Picture the faces of fans, then, when Andre ripped Hogan's crucifix from his neck and challenged him to a WWF Title match at WrestleMania III. Willingly selling out friendship due to the lure of title success under the guidance of Bobby Heenan, Andre was later aligned with Ted DiBiase's 'Million Dollar Man' character to hammer home the point.

This was the huge heel foe Hulkamania needed in 1987. Andre may have been another stepping stone for the non-stop Hogan locomotive rolling over everyone, but what an important stone the giant was.
