Pro wrestling (certainly in the WWE-dominated era) has rarely put less emphasis on bulging muscles and physical size than it does today. Other things, like in-ring skills and a connection to fans across the globe on social media are ultra-important, not how buff someone is. Put it this way: big muscles don't necessarily guarantee any success, and yet, yes, looks are still important.

Wrestlers must be marketable, and they have to be able to sell themselves as a product worth investing in both to fans and the promotion they work for. That, presumably, is why so many undergo visual changes over the span of their runs. Legends like Chris Jericho and The Undertaker know the worth of staying fresh, and they were constantly updating during the peak years of their careers.

This article doesn't only spotlight the changes that happened in front of fan eyes (like those icons) though. It's more about those who kept their transformations off-camera, and those who sneakily had a makeover before debuting the results for dramatic effect.
