10. Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa (And Other Indie Stars)

Now Gargano and Ciampa are a pair that are generally not known as a tag team combination, but that was what they were presented as during a two-match run on NXT as part of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

The using of these two darlings of the independent wrestling scene just goes to further show that the game has changed in terms of how the stigma that the WWE so often placed on indy talents, with the possibilities now endless in just who could turn up in NXT or even on the WWE main roster.

With Gargano and Ciampa, they’re inclusion on this list is more to show how the WWE isn’t afraid to look towards the independent scene to give guys a chance to show what they can do. And with teams like rEDragon, War Machine, The Young Bucks, Monster Mafia, The Briscoes and even Bad Influence all out there, maybe some of those guys could finally be brought in to reignite the WWE’s tag team ranks.

Failing that, Gargano and Ciampa did enough to show that they could make for a hell of a team themselves if given the chance again in the future.
