With the WWE based out of the northeast since the company's inception, its only fitting that the most number of WWE title changes have went down in New York. The WWE has long been married to New York, even opening up a failed restaurant in Times Square. Several WrestleMania events have emanated from the area, and wrestlers often referred to making the switch to the WWE as "going to New York." In all, 21 title changes have taken place in the state of New York, with 14 of those happening in New York City. In addition to that, two more have taken place in East Rutherford, New Jersey, which is just a stone's throw from New York City. There have also been several title changes in Albany, Buffalo and Uniondale. Interestingly, all WWE title changes in New York happened at house shows or pay-per-views, with none going down during Raw, Smackdown, or other cable programs.
