10 Things Everyone Wants To See In WWE Before The End Of 2020
10. CM Punk Returns To WWE TV
Is any WWE themed list complete without a tease for a return to WWE by CM Punk? And as much as you might be rolling your eyes right now, hear us out.
No one expected CM Punk to return to the WWE Universe as part of the FOX Sports 1 series WWE Backstage last year, especially after he had been so vocal about his former employer since walking away from wrestling in 2014. But as exciting as it was to see him back on TV, albeit as an independent pundit and not an actual employee, FOX completely botched his return by failing to capitalise on the sheer scale of the deal they had signed. They could have insisted on Punk's inclusion on SmackDown Live! for example, or brought certain old foes onto the show to spice things up a little. Instead, Punk became a guest contributor and any impact from his return quickly fizzled out.
This could all change though if he were to show up in some role on SmackDown Live! If FOX are paying WWE a total of $1 billion then surely they have a little more pulling power than any of the networks carrying Raw etc. and if the trips to Saudi Arabia have proved anything it is that Vince McMahon will bow to the power of the almighty dollar.
We're not suggesting Punk returning as a wrestler will ever happen, let alone in the next 3-4 months, but he could show up on Talking Smack 2.0 or as the network's hand chosen announcer alongside Michael Cole and Corey Graves, and if the price is right Vincey-boy might just be willing to make it happen.
