1. Johnny Gargano Vs. Tommaso Ciampa
If there is one match that simply has to happen in NXT in 2018, it is the battle between former NXT Tag Team Champions #DIY. Tommaso Ciampa cruelly turned on Johnny Gargano at the climax of NXT TakeOver: Chicago, but the NXT faithful were denied a match between the two thanks to a serious injury suffered by the Psycho Killer.
Ciampa is yet to return to the ring, while Gargano has been plagued by the destruction of the tag team ever since. In many ways. NXT has never had a truly brand-defining feud. There have been good and bad feuds, but nothing truly spectacular. Johnny Gargano vs. Tommaso Ciampa could well be that feud.
When will it happen? That all depends on Ciampa’s recovery, but it absolutely has to and will happen. Will the NXT Championship be on the line? That could happen too, although a feud this personal does not need the extra incentive of a championship. This is far bigger than any title belt.
And it must define NXT in 2018.
