10 Things To Expect From CM Punk's UFC Debut

8. A Documentary Tie-In Is Likely

Earlier this year, there were multiple reports that a documentary about Punk's transition to MMA was being filmed. That makes sense, and it makes extra sense for it to air on Fox, the UFC's broadcast partner (UFC Fight Pass, the company's online channel, is also an option, but has far fewer viewers overall than the Fox network, or even Fox Sports 1). This is likely to be a multi-episode event. While a one-night special is possible, if the UFC wants to really maximize Punk's value, they'll air this over multiple nights, following his path from newly signed fighter, to joining Roufusport, and save the final episode for something special - like naming Punk's eventual opponent. Even if it's a fighter without any real name value, which as discussed is the likely case, plenty of people will tune in to see that in the build up to his eventual debut. The fact that Punk is an articulate, quotable guy should help this endeavor quite a bit.
