10 Things We Learned About AEW’s Blood & Guts On Talk Is Jericho

6. The Inspiration For Sammy Guevara’s Rage

The build towards Blood & Guts included an abandoned coin toss on Dynamite. According to Jericho, there was one simple reason for that: Chris hates coin tosses, and thinks they're a sh*tty way to decide anything, especially in pro wrestling. That's why Shawn Spears was scripted to smack the coin from Tony Schiavone's hands.

Some fans were also confused about why Sammy Guevara (a heel) had gleefully taken the numbers disadvantage in the match. Here's where things get really intriguing; Jericho said that was his idea. It was inspired by stories about his real-life bravery during backstage confrontations with Goldberg and Brock Lesnar in WCW and WWE.

He was "living vicariously through Sammy".

Guevara's character "didn't give a sh*t anymore" despite knowing he'd likely get his ass handed to him if he started in the cage. Jericho figured that was a cool way to give Sammy some edge and make him look like a total hard nut who'd fight anybody for what he believed in.
