10 Things We Learned From Dark Side Of The Ring: Necro Butcher vs. Samoa Joe

3. Joe’s Girlfriend “Almost Threw Up” And Left

As aforementioned, Joe only really agreed to the IWA Mid-South booking so he could hang out with his then-girlfriend. She was actually there for the show, but the poor lass couldn’t stomach some of the gritty violence on offer. The tipping point for her came when Joe was open palm striking Necro and blood was literally flying off his head into the crowd.

Yeah, can’t see anybody wanting to be in the way of that.

There’s something oddly funny about her sitting through someone’s head cracking concrete, powerbombs onto the guard rail, vicious steel chair shots to the head and more...but then leaving because of slaps, to be fair. It was because blood was about to hit her, but yes - she'd already witnessed more than enough brutality for one afternoon by that point.

It'd be fun to hear accounts from others in the audience for this match. During 'Dark Side', footage from the bout shows a bloodlust in the first few rows. People really seemed to be getting a kick out of watching Joe smash Necro around, and they adored how the Butcher kept getting back up and peppering Samoa with shots whenever he was able.

Maybe most in attendance knew what they were in for when they purchased a ticket for 'Something To Prove'. In fact, that's probably spot on. Joe's girlfriend certainly didn't, and she wasn't going to hang around long enough to get some hardcore maniac's claret all over her clothes/face/body. That'd be a bad time for anyone.
