Kane's masks had to be robust, breathable and comfortable to wear. Meeting that design brief proved challenging for the WWF's wardrobe department, and that's why they outsourced the masks to an "S&M place". Corporate Kane? Nah, mate. Kinky Kane.

Kane also told Austin that he kept a mask exclusively for television and would wear older ones for house show appearances. Whenever he'd return backstage after matches, the guy would spend around 30 minutes untangling his long black hair from the thing too.

The WWF had a contract with this "S&M place" (they didn't name it on the podcast) that kept a steady stream of masks coming in. It was important that they were identical, and the company responsible were trusted to meet the requirements... in between moulding plastic handcuffs. Probably.
