10 Things We Learned From Post-Payback WWE Raw (May 1)
5. Raising The Bar
A heel turn is so rarely well performed in the modern era, with characters often switching haphazardly to service the instant gratification the company has convinced itself younger fans now crave from their professional wrestling.
That was thankfully not the case for Sheamus and Cesaro, who jumped the Hardy Boyz following their defeat to the pair at Sunday's Payback pay-per-view.
Given a window of opportunity on Monday Night Raw to explain their actions and refine their presentation as a ruthlessly well-oiled machine, the 'Celtic Warrior' and the 'Swiss Superman' ripped into the growing fanbase they'd amassed since coming together in the embers of their best of seven series last year.
The former tag team champions took turns lambasting the crowd for their own personal, and very different, reasons. With Sheamus basking in the dormant disdain of the audience once again, Cesaro took the fans to task for their vociferous adulation of the Hardy Boyz since their WrestleMania return, abandoning a 'Cesaro Section' he felt had already abandoned him.
It was a swift and logical transfer for the two heavy-hitters, and due to the innate unpleasantness of Sheamus in particular, is absolutely where they currently belong.
