10 Things We Learned From Randy Orton On Stone Cold's Broken Skull Sessions Podcast
Randy Orton just revealed who he DIDN'T want to work with on Steve Austin's WWE Network show.
Well, the bottle of Jack Daniels that Steve Austin opened on his first 'Broken Skull Sessions' episode with The Undertaker waaaay back in November 2019 has finally been finished. He and Randy Orton polished it off as they opened up on everything from 'The Deadman' himself and Vince McMahon to Randy's personal problems and Drew McIntyre.
Both guys covered a lot of ground here.
There were moments throughout the near two-hour chat when 'Stone Cold' looked slightly uncomfortable with Orton's constant chatter about "being lucky". That's how the 14-time World Champion really feels though - Randy has been through so many ups and downs during his 20-year WWE career, and he knows it.
Typically for Austin, some of the questions were designed to make his guest squirm. The legend loves doing that, but only because he knows probing deeper leads to better answers. Orton was willing to meet Steve halfway, and that made the lengthier running time irrelevant.
There was some must-hear introspection from the man himself, and one gets the feeling that this could be a two-parter if Randy's willing. Fingers crossed, because he's a deceptively deep thinker...
10. Randy Thought Austin Didn’t Like Him
...one that didn't think a certain 'Rattlesnake" was too fond of him.
The interview had barely started before Randy revealed that he and Austin have never actually sat down for a lengthy chinwag before. They've talked in passing, but never anything more substantial. This was a first then, and something Orton was excited to do.
Explaining himself, Austin said that he'd always been "a bit of a loner". That was definitely the case when Randy broke onto the main roster back in April 2002 - 'Stone Cold' would retire the following year at WrestleMania XIX, so he didn't get too much time to socialise with Mr. RKO.
Steve had also made cutting comments about Orton's promo skills in the media, which caught Randy's attention. That didn't help the frostiness between them, and it's why they've taken so long to properly develop a bond.
This ice-breaking stuff was some start to the sit-down.
