An issue Russo consistently brings up during his Kayfabe Commentaries shoot is being blamed for bad ideas that weren't actually his creation. To his credit, he also takes the time to point out that not every character envisioned during the 'Attitude' Era came from his mind. One of those men was Charles 'The Godfather' Wright. Having struggled for years to really gain traction as Papa Shango and the 'Supreme Fighting Machine' Kama, Wright knocked heads with Vince McMahon to create his new gimmick in 1998. Whilst he was still part of The Nation Of Domination, the guy began adding some subtle nuances to his on screen persona, appearing as much more of a pimp than a black militant. As it turns out, this had absolutely nothing to do with Russo. Of course, once the gimmick was fleshed out, he did write television for it, but it wasn't his creation. Many of the characters unveiled during 1998 came from his brain, so it's interesting to know that it was Wright and McMahon who put together The Godfather.
