10 Things We Learned From WWE 24: The Year Of Ronda Rousey

3. The Match She's Most Proud Of

The 15 months or so Ronda Rousey blessed WWE with her presence were absolutely chock-a-block full of highlights, from her inexplicably sensational debut bout right up to her involvement in WrestleMania's first-ever all-women's main event. Yet it's a match which provoked a somewhat divisive response from the live audience which she is most proud of.

With Nix Jax having mashed Becky Lynch's face with a huge baked potato just before the Lass Kicker's Survivor Series' date with Ronda, plans had to be changed on the fly. Long-term ideas for a future rivalry with Charlotte Flair were instead brought forward for a single night, The Queen inserted in Lynch's stead for a sudden and, given the show, suitably no-context clash of stars.

It was this lack of preparation that imbued Rousey with so much pride; for the first time, she was asked to tell the story purely in the ring, ad hoc - and she pulled it off sensationally.

After the contest, Charlotte laid a huge beatdown on her opponent, provoking a galling rejection of the Ronda character by some segments of the audience, who viewed her as being Roman Reigns-ed. None of that mattered to the woman at the centre of attention: she knew it was a banger, regardless of the boo boys. And she was right.
